The Arrecife City Council will collaborate in the exhibition "25 years of Los Desahuciados", which will be inaugurated next Sunday, March 6, at 7:30 p.m. at the Sociedad Democracia de Arrecife.

"Los Desahuciados are part of the history of the Arrecife Carnival. Their love for this festival, their desire to have fun and entertain us, is enviable. They have been giving the murga for 25 years and that is only possible when you are part of a great murga family. My congratulations for continuing there and for not losing the murga spirit, the carnival spirit," said the mayor of Arrecife.

The exhibition, which can be visited until March 27, will serve to take a tour of the 25-year history of one of the leading murgas of the Lanzarote carnival, through "the images and memories contributed by the members of the group", as well as "twenty-two of the twenty-three costumes that the murga has worn throughout a quarter of a century of history."

"This year is very special for us because we are celebrating our 25th anniversary, twenty-five years in which there have been moments of joy, sadness, triumph, defeat and companionship, but during all this time we have always known how to face them together hand in hand," said the president of Los Desahuciados, Miguel Martín.

"Although due to the pandemic situation Los Desahuciados, like many other carnival groups, have not been able to adequately prepare the carnival and will not go out to celebrate it as in other years, it will undoubtedly be one of the great protagonists of the same thanks to this exhibition that takes a tour of the life of this important murga of Valterra," said the Councilor for Culture, Abigail González. "It will be of enormous interest, not only for members and followers, but for any lover of carnival and the history of these festivals so marked for the Canarians," she added.
