The residents of La Villa de Teguise go out every day with great caution to participate in the events scheduled in honor of their patron saint, Nuestra Señora del Carmen. On Saturday afternoon they went to the church and left their offerings again next to the image of the Virgin as in years before the pandemic. These are non-perishable products that will then be distributed by Cáritas Parroquiales among the families most in need in the municipality.
At 5:30 p.m. the procession departed from the vicinity of the House of Culture, headed by the Councilor for Culture and Festivities, Nori Machín, accompanied by some colleagues from the Corporation. Together with them were the representatives of the cultural groups, who were also joined by many residents.
Upon arrival before the image of Carmen, they were welcomed by the parish priest of the municipality, Matías Gula, who thanked each one for their generous collaboration "which will help needy families to continue forward".
This year, due to the pandemic, the folkloric offering could not be carried out, with the songs and dances of the cultural groups of the municipality. But they continue working without losing hope that next year they can do it again, putting joy with their songs, color with their clothing and a wide smile without a mask.
