The residents of Soo celebrated, as every December 27, the festival of San Juan Evangelista, popularly known by the elders of the town as “San Juan el de los Viejos” (Saint John of the Old Men).

The event, which began at 5:30 p.m. and had the permitted capacity full, began with the Eucharist presided over by the parish priest Rafael Tejera. For the residents of Soo, this is a very special celebration, in which each one takes stock of how the year has gone, giving thanks to the Saint, while asking him to make the next one good.

As tradition dictates, each year a group of residents are in charge of getting everything ready, ensuring that not the smallest detail is missing with the floral arrangements for the throne where San Juan Evangelista shows off his best clothes. However, this year he could not go out in procession through the streets of the town either due to Covid.

After the Eucharist, the residents were able to enjoy the musical performance of the cultural group "Amigos de Arrecife El Verol", made up of women and men who are part of the project promoted by the Cabildo de Lanzarote "Navidad Isleña".

The musicians from Lanzarote delighted the residents with a varied and cheerful musical repertoire, counting on the complicity of the public who also joined their voices in some of the choruses, rewarding their performance with resounding applause.
