The Hermanos Domínguez business group has invested more than 13 million euros in Lanzarote over the past eight months to transform the two-key apartment complex Las Arenas, located in Costa Teguise, into a four-star luxury hotel that will have the largest spa on the island.

As explained by Javier Puga, director of the business group owned by brothers José Abraham and Andrés Domíguez Santana, the Las Arenas complex, located on the beachfront of Los Charcos Beach, in the town of Costa Teguise, has 177 rooms and had been operating as an apartment complex operated by an external company.

He pointed out that the property of the establishment will now assume direct operation of the hotel, which will have a four-star luxury category and will be renamed HD Beach Resort.

The operation will be carried out through its hotel chain HD Hoteles, for which it has undertaken a complete remodeling, in such a way that the works will significantly improve the quality of the tourist offer in the area and on the island in general.

Puga explained that the promoters' intention is that the works, in which more than a hundred companies have participated, led by the Lanzarote construction company Hormiconsa Canarias, will be completed on the 24th of this month, the date on which the reopening of the establishment is scheduled.

The director of the Hermanos Domínguez Group clarified that the investment has been allocated to the total transformation of the complex into a hotel, its complete equipment and the remodeling of its facilities, both inside and outside, to turn it into a luxury establishment located on the beachfront that will enable the creation of more than fifty direct jobs.

He assured that the project contemplates the full integration of the hotel into the environment and the creation of a varied offer of complementary facilities and services, such as a large municipal sports area for public use that has been financed by the Group, to turn it into a benchmark establishment in the Costa Teguise area.

The transformation of the Las Arenas Hotel is part of the expansion process of the HD Hoteles tourist chain, belonging to the Canarian business group, which has establishments in Gran Canaria, Tenerife and Lanzarote, explained Puga.

In the case of Lanzarote, the hotel chain already has the Poblado Marinero complex, in Playa Blanca, and the Las Arenas Hotel, in Costa Teguise, and according to its managers, it also plans to build a luxury hotel near the Marina Rubicón marina, in Playa Blanca, with an expected investment of around 50 million euros.

The Hermanos Domínguez business group has recently inaugurated the expansion works of the Las Arenas Shopping Center, in Las Palmas, which has allowed it to increase its surface area by 18 thousand square meters and in which more than 40 million euros have been invested.

The group also owns the El Campanario Shopping Center, located in the tourist town of Corralejo, in Fuerteventura, a business initiative for which it was recently awarded the Playas de Plata prize for distinguished tourism 2010 for the tourist initiative in terms of diversification of the offer.

The Hermanos Domínguez are also owners of the media group Nueve Radiotelevisión, with implementation on the islands of Gran Canaria, Lanzarote and Fuerteventura, both on television through its three island TDT licenses, and on radio, through a network of stations that have been operating on the three islands for more than a decade and have recently incorporated the digital newspaper Canariasaldia.com into the project.
