The Free Sahara Coordinating Committee of Lanzarote celebrated the 44th anniversary of the creation of the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic (SADR) on Saturday with a festive event and a call for "compliance with international law."
The event was attended by Mohamed Salem Bouchraya, a Sahrawi activist who personally experienced the creation of the SADR, as well as Juan Antonio de la Hoz and Marci Acuña, representing the Canary Association of Solidarity with the Sahrawi people in Lanzarote, who spoke about the history of the Sahrawi people and the historical, ideological, national identity, political, and legal arguments that justify the existence of the SADR.

Later, attendees were able to taste a cake with the flag of the SADR and typical Sahrawi cuisine and drinks.
On the other hand, the Free Sahara Coordinating Committee of Lanzarote would like to thank the deputies of the Catalan Parliament for their support of the cause of the Sahrawi people and denounce "the violation of Human Rights by the State of Morocco in the territories illegally occupied in Western Sahara, preventing the entry of Catalan parliamentarians to El Aaiún in recent days, and the systematic repression against the Sahrawi people in those territories."
