The students and workers of the Training Program in Alternation with Employment (PFAE) Building Future III of the City Council of Tías have recently intervened in different areas of the municipality, such as the Plaza del Pavón and the headquarters for the elderly La Orilla, both in Tías, the Tegoyo facilities and the Concepción Rodríguez Artiles school, in Puerto del Carmen.

The 15 students, guided by a management and teaching team, have executed works such as raising several enclosure walls in a block factory, expanding paved accesses, concreting spaces for games and volcanic stone walls. During the next months they will continue their learning in different points of the municipality of Tías

The team of student-workers also receives theoretical classes and talks, such as the one received at the end of July together with the students of the PFAE Tías en Verde called “Entrepreneurship and development of a business plan”, given by the technician of the Chamber of Commerce of Lanzarote and La Graciosa, Verónica Barreto.

The Councilor for Employment, Carmen Gloria Rodríguez, specifies that the City Council of Tías currently manages 6 PFAEs, which train some 90 people from the municipality who were previously unemployed: Building Future III, Tías en Verde, La Web de Tías 3.0, Dinamiza Tías, Playas Seguras III and For a Cleaner Town II.

The PFAEs are public employment and training programs financed by the Government of the Canary Islands through the Canarian Employment Service (SCE) and are aimed at unemployed people without specific training in a profession. Its objective is to facilitate access to work through learning and professional experience in an occupation.

These projects combine training and employment. During the time that the project lasts, the student-worker receives occupational training mainly aimed at obtaining professional certificates that are then accredited to them and, at the same time, they are given a work contract for training for which they receive a salary, carrying out works or services for the contracting entity.
