The comedian Matías Alonso will be the herald of the Arrecife Carnival

Chona's lazy brother, 'Ginés', will be the herald of the Arrecife Carnival 2011, which kicks off on February 25 with the reading of the proclamation and will last until March 9. This has been confirmed by the Councilor for Festivities of the Arrecife City Council, Eduardo Lasso, who has expressed his satisfaction that a comedian of the stature of Matías Alonso, one of the funniest actors of the successful program of the Canarian Television, 'En clave de Ja', will give the starting signal to the capital's carnivals.

Matías Alonso is a regular on the island of Lanzarote. In addition to starring in some chapter of this well-known television program, he has presented in Arrecife some of his most relevant shows, such as "El cabaret del capitán Varela". But perhaps one of the characters that has led him to fame has been that of 'Ginés', Chona's brother.

Ginés is basic, primitive, rude and silly. To Chona's misfortune, he is her brother. Chonita, Chona's sister-in-law, is bitter, sacrificed and suffered. Everything is a lament for her, but she has had to, unfortunately, take care of Ginés despite the fact that they are already separated. This strange couple is played by the actors Yanely Hernández and Matías Alonso, also the presenter of the successful cooking program of Canarian Television 'El gusto es mío', as well as an actor in the new series 'La Revoltosa'. Chona's lazy brother has starred in some of the best sketches of 'En clave de Ja'.

Matías Alonso, 35 years old, performed for the first time in front of the public in 1992. His artistic career took a turn in 2006, with his leap to the theater, and he acted in works such as 'Movimiento Estelar' and 'El apagón', before his arrival to the program 'En clave de Ja'.

Matías Alonso's proclamation, which promises to be different, will open the Arrecife Carnivals on February 25. Carnivals that on this occasion are dedicated to the world of opera and that will take place between the center and the Fairgrounds of the capital.
