The educational community of the César Manrique Cabrera school in Tahíche celebrated the great Carnival festival this Friday morning, the first after the pandemic.
The day was attended by many family members who came to encourage not only the students but also their teachers for the great work they do to be able to stage each of the numbers represented by the students who, following the guidelines of their teachers, far exceed an outstanding grade that is endorsed with applause.
This year the chosen theme was "Carnivals of the World", demonstrating that the students, properly guided by the teachers, and always with the help of the families, are capable of producing a carnival show with a level sufficient to transcend the walls of an educational center.
That was the challenge posed this year by CEIP César Manrique Cabrera, a school that for several years has taken advantage of the celebration of this winter festival to bring children to learn and achieve numerous school objectives and content. If on other occasions it was the carnivals of the Canary Islands, this time the gaze has been broadened to the globe. "Spectacular", "brilliant" have been some of the adjectives heard about the show starring the students.
It is the final product of an educational project that has taken several weeks to immerse themselves in the most outstanding carnivals and festive traditions of the world and that has had a great variety of activities to reach the event this Friday, which has been supported by the presence of half a thousand spectators.
The show was directed and coordinated by the music teacher, Antonio Monzón, the main person in charge of this project, of the choreographies, script and music of the event. Each level has delved into a different culture and carnival festivity. Representing the Canary Islands, the infant stage has staged the carnival of "Los Indianos" of La Palma, showing the union between Cuba and our Archipelago. The first level has highlighted the tradition of "La Diablada Boliviana", a manifestation of noise, charanga and joy. Second presented the carnival of "Venice", with its classical music and palatial resonances. Third sang and danced to the rhythm of the carnival of "Brazil", fourth displayed the festive traditions "Mexican", with its cheerful melodies. Fifth landed with the color and swing of the carnival of "New Orleans". Sixth put the finishing touch to a meeting of glitter and color with the "Holi" festival of India.
