The assembly hall of the Cabildo of Lanzarote hosted this Tuesday the presentation of the short film series against gender violence 2019.
The Gender Violence Unit of the Social Welfare area organizes for the fourth consecutive year the screening of these short films, which aim to "raise awareness among young people of the real dimension of gender violence as a universal problem and the necessary involvement of everyone for its eradication."
Dozens of students from secondary education centers in Lanzarote, in the levels of 3rd and 4th year of ESO and 1st and 2nd year of Bachillerato were able to view this Tuesday morning the short films 'Señor-señorito', 'Los monstruos no existen', 'Momentos', 'Te quiero', 'Oasis' and '112'. The theme of each of the six short films has to do with some of the different types of gender violence such as abuse in relationships, sexual exploitation, etc.

"Although the situations you are going to see may seem exaggerated or strange, gender violence can affect everyone, without distinction," said the Minister of Education, Paula Corujo, during the presentation, in which she encouraged students to be critical and prevent situations of violence.
For his part, the Minister of Social Welfare, Marcos Bergaz defined education as "a weapon of mass construction" and reminded those present that they are "the bricks with which a future without criminal machismo can be built."
