The Air Force is conducting the advanced training exercise Ocean Sky in the skies of Lanzarote for the ninth consecutive year. As confirmed by Government Delegation sources to La Voz, the military aircraft flying over the island these days come from the army airfield.

A total of 50 aircraft, including F16, F18 and Eurofighter, from six countries (Spain, Italy, France, Turkey, Greece and Portugal) are participating in this year's training, as La Provincia assured. Thus, Ocean Sky has its air base in the Archipelago.

These international maneuvers serve military pilots to prepare to dominate the air in conflict situations. Thus, they are carried out in parallel at the Gando air base in Gran Canaria and at the conejero military airfield. The decision to carry out these adventures in the Archipelago is due to the amplitude of the training field, of more than 11,000 square kilometers over the open sea.

The location of both Canary Islands allows pilots not to interfere with civil traffic or with the population that is disturbed by the roar of the reactors. These practices in the air also allow maneuvers such as lowering to sea level or reaching the speed of sound.
