Storm Olivier hits Lanzarote hard and leaves the first rains of the day

The passage of Storm Olivier has been strongly felt in Lanzarote. The arrival of this front has left light rains in the north of the island and constant rainfall in Tinajo, San Bartolomé, Arrecife and Tías.

At 8.30 in the morning, the most active structure closest to the archipelago was over the island, where lightning and thunder are expected. Until 8.00 in the morning, only one millimeter of rainfall per square meter was recorded, which rose to 10.3 millimeters in Tinajo.

The island of Lanzarote has been on alert for rain, storms and flood risks since early Wednesday morning. The State Meteorological Agency has established warnings on the island from 6.00 in the morning until 3.00 in the afternoon.

According to the website Windy, this front will be over the island until at least 3 p.m., with the presence of thunder.

Also, at 10:00 in the morning, the Department of Emergencies will meet with all the Cabildos and the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) to determine whether or not to revise the warnings.

In the northern part of the island, the rains are being abundant, where there are already records of up to 15 liters per square meter in one hour in Haría and 17 liters in Famara.
