The Cabildo of Lanzarote has participated in the international Seatrade Cruise Global fair, one of the main global meetings of the sector, with the objective of "consolidating the presence of the destination in the cruise market and advancing in its strategy of attracting tourism with higher added value".
During the event, the team of SPEL-Turismo Lanzarote has maintained an intense agenda of meetings with shipping companies specialized in boutique and luxury cruises, as well as with travel agencies, tourism marketing companies and international media.
The actions of the Cabildo are added to the commitment of the Arrecife city council to increase the number of cruises in the island's capital. The city council highlighted that Arrecife already contributes more than 30% of the income from cruises in the state ports of Las Palmas. In April, 43 cruises will arrive in the island's capital.
The Lanzarote team has presented the unique characteristics of the destination, strengthen strategic relationships and explore new collaboration opportunities oriented towards more exclusive and sustainable segments.
Participation in this international event is part of the strategy of diversification and qualification of the destination promoted by the Cabildo de Lanzarote, aimed at a more sustainable, balanced, and aligned tourism model with the island's identity.
The president of the Cabildo de Lanzarote, Oswaldo Betancort, has highlighted that “the commitment to the boutique and luxury cruise segment responds to a clear island strategy: prioritize quality over quantity, attract a visitor more respectful of the environment and generate a greater economic and social return for Lanzarote”.
Betancort added that "being present in international forums like Seatrade Cruise Global is key to positioning Lanzarote in the sector's decision-making circuits and continuing to advance towards a more competitive, sustainable, and aligned tourism model with our identity as a destination."
For his part, the CEO of SPEL-Turismo Lanzarote, Héctor Fernández, has stressed that “the meetings held at Seatrade Cruise Global have been very productive and allow us to continue advancing in attracting tourism with greater added value, consolidating relationships with key operators in the sector and generating new opportunities for the destination”.
Seatrade Cruise Events organizes this annual meeting, which brings together the main cruise lines, destinations, suppliers and agents of the global cruise industry, becoming a key space for networking, innovation, and the development of new trends in the sector.
