The Social Worker Front of the Canary Islands (FSOC) of Lanzarote has shown its "total support" for the demonstration called for May 18 in defense of our island.
"As workers in the tourism sector, we experience daily the consequences of an unsustainable model that puts our resources, our quality of life and the future of those of us who actually live here at risk," the group said in a press release.
"We understand the social weariness and we join this claim for an urgent and necessary change," they continued. As César Manrique said: “There is no doubt that an avalanche of uncontrolled tourists adulterates the identity of any town," they paraphrased.
Finally, they have invited all citizens to join and actively participate in this demonstration. "It is time to raise our voices and defend what is ours," they concluded.
