About twenty families with minors undergoing oncological treatment or suffering from serious illnesses in Lanzarote, Fuerteventura, Gran Canaria, and Tenerife have been able to enjoy a free weekend in La Graciosa thanks to the 'Descansa' project, linked to the Corporate Social Responsibility of the Canary Islands.
The initiative is promoted by the Kilómetros por Sonrisas Association, the airline Canaryfly, and the Líneas Romero Foundation, and was launched as a pilot project three years ago. The aim is to extend it to the rest of the islands so that families from El Hierro, La Gomera, and La Palma can also benefit, as reported by the Ministry of Social Welfare in a statement this Wednesday.
It indicates that 'Descansa' is an example of three-way cooperation within the framework of the Corporate Social Responsibility network.
The experience includes inter-island transportation, accommodation, food, and adapted rest and leisure activities, all with a human and personalized approach, the note states, specifying that work is underway to expand the project throughout the archipelago, with the support of public institutions, social entities, and companies committed to social responsibility.
The Deputy Minister of Social Welfare, Francisco Candil, has announced that the intention is to formalize new agreements for the development of more social projects.
The 'Descansa' project will be part of the Panel of Successful Experiences that will be included in the I Corporate Social Responsibility Congress to be held next Friday, June 27th.
