He told his classmates that on Sunday he had found a turtle trapped in a large fishing net in the rocky area of Bajo Risco de Famara. Francisco Hernández, a student from the Zonzamas Institute of Arrecife, could not release it that day because he did not have the necessary means, but the narration of this small story and the initiative of students and teachers allowed the turtle to be released and prevented it from dying of asphyxiation in the net.
Informing classmates and teachers helped them make the decision to go and save it. Francisco and several 4th year ESO students, with the help of the technology teacher and a biology teacher who has worked on previous occasions with sea turtles at the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, went to the place in order to get it out of the net.
It was a juvenile specimen of loggerhead turtle, about 8-10 years old. After releasing it, it was found that it had no injuries, so they proceeded to release it into the sea. Finally, they took the mesh out of the tidal zone to prevent other animals from getting entangled. The "rescuers" warn that "unfortunately many turtles and dolphins die trapped in fishing nets".
