The President of the Government of Spain, Pedro Sánchez, arrived this Monday in Lanzarote to spend a few days of vacation with his family at the La Mareta residence. Specifically, at around 2:00 p.m. he entered the building, located in Costa Teguise. As La Voz had advanced.
A van with tinted windows has transferred Pedro Sánchez and his family from the airport to La Mareta, escorted by security cars, as EFE has been able to verify. Government sources did not want to specify either the arrival or how many days Sánchez will remain on the island, which has become one of the usual places where he spends a few days of rest since he is president.
La Mareta, located in the municipality of Teguise, was ordered to be built by King Hussein of Jordan in the late seventies of the last century and a decade later he gave the residence to King Juan Carlos, who in turn ceded it to National Heritage.
Different Spanish government presidents as well as international leaders such as German chancellors Helmut Kohl and Gerhard Schröder have stayed in it.
