The President of the Government of Spain, Pedro Sánchez, will arrive this Monday, August 12, in Lanzarote. As usual since his arrival at La Moncloa, the socialist leader will spend part of his family vacation on the island of the volcanoes, specifically in the residence of La Mareta. This is what La Voz has learned.
This complex was built for King Hussein of Jordan, who gave the building to King Juan Carlos I in the late years. The House of the King made this residence available to National Heritage, where different heads of state such as José María Aznar (PP) and José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero (PSOE) have stayed. Also the German chancellors Helmut Kohl and Gerhard Schröder; the then president of the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics Mikhail Gorbachev or the Czech president Václav Havel have also stayed in this residence.
Last summer Sánchez also landed in Lanzarote at the beginning of August and he could be seen touring the traditional Saturday market of Haría, accompanied by his wife Begoña Gómez, the presenter Jesús Calleja and the filmmaker Alejandro Amenábar.
