"Rescuing, living, transmitting and defending" the traditions of Canarian culture are the objectives of the Association of the Order of the Canarian Puppy of Lanzarote. Under the name of the typical hat of the land, this organization promotes projects to carry out its objectives. To enter the order, the process is quite curious, since it involves a whole ritual. The statutes govern the association and after making the request, and getting two members of the organization to sponsor them, the board accepts them and after six months, a baptism is performed, which consists of placing the black hat, through which they are named puppies.

Last Saturday, October 27, they celebrated their second annual assembly and there three women and three men joined the members of the association, completing the number at 67.

In addition, the association chaired by Marcial Morales gave the Tanit Ethnographic Museum the designation of Honorary Puppy "for contributing many things to defend our traditions and rescue them" according to Marcial. The Tanit "is not like the El Patio Museum, but there they have everything from typical Canarian costumes to all the tools, even if some are in miniature, but it is a museum that is contributing a lot to the conservation of our customs".

Among the projects of the puppies is the Dissemination of Traditional Agricultural Works, which began last Monday, October 29, in close cooperation with the General Directorate of Educational Promotion of the Government of the Canary Islands, the Area of Education and Culture of the Cabildo of Lanzarote and the Insular Directorate of Education.

Thus, schoolchildren between 11 and 13 years old visit El Patio Agricultural Museum, in Tiagua, to learn about the traditional works of this sector, such as "the tools of the field, the mill, the winery, the different ways of surviving from before and the animals: how to take care of the camels and chickens".

In mind they have more projects, among them, is the Color Chart, since the island "is becoming many colors", so "we are going to try to make the colors white, green and blue".

And how we also have to live, which is another of the objectives of the puppies, last Saturday a night of revelry was organized in the kiosk of the Boca del Muelle for all the members of the association of Gran Canaria, Tenerife and La Gomera, in which, as expected, Canarian music was not lacking.
