The mayor of Arrecife, and direct head of the Local Police, Yonathan de León, has announced this week through his profiles on social networks, the story of the dog Nala, a member of the Canine Unit of the Local Police of the capital of Lanzarote, specialized in the investigation against drug trafficking.
Nala joined the Canine Group Unit of the Local Police of Arrecife in 2015. After almost 10 years in the force, and with an important and good record detecting narcotic substances, it is time for her to go into reserve. To a well-deserved retirement.
This past Saturday, within the recognitions for the Day of the Local Police of Arrecife, she received her well-deserved medal for her services in the capital. The act, held in the plenary hall, counted among the "honorees" with this canine, who from now on will pass to her well-deserved retirement.
The canine team has five dogs that reinforce the work of the Local Police of Arrecife fighting against drug trafficking. In recent times there have been many, and important, achievements of our agents.
The Local Police of Arrecife has carried out in this last year the closure of seven drug dens, and has participated in the dismantling of five groups dedicated to the distribution of drugs, in joint operations with the National Police Corps.
The mayor Yonathan de León, accompanied by the deputy chief commissioner of the Local Police, and the head of the Canine Police Team of the Local Police, presented the 'medal for police merits'.
