About 3,200 people enjoyed the LGTB World Arrecife Festival 2017 gala this Saturday, which was held in the Plaza de El Almacén in the capital of Lanzarote. The musical gala, which began at 9:30 p.m., was presented by the Canarian women and former Big Brother contestants Amor Romeira and Noemí Merino.
Attendees were able to sing and dance to the rhythm of Descemer Bueno, creator of the hits "Súbeme la radio" and "Bailando", as well as DJ Kevin Edwards and the Lanzarote group Treintaytantos.
The gala was also enlivened by the famous youtuber Aless Gibaja and the performances of Kira Lorace, Pupi Poisson, Drag Luck, Drag Ollín and Lina Evans.
"Pride is respect, rights, struggle, vindication and visibility"
During the gala, the mayor of Arrecife, Eva de Anta, was called to the stage, "who was recognized for her activist career in favor of LGTB rights, since she was part of the founding team of the Lánzate association and held its presidency for several years," they pointed out from the Consistory. "Pride is respect, rights, struggle and vindication and visibility," said the mayor, adding that "pride is also festivity, color and joy, because LGTBI+ pride is ultimately the celebration of the lives of all people."
The first mayor of the capital also "valued the work of the current vice president of the entity, Rayco Betancort, who has recovered for the vindictive scene of the LGTB community an association, Lánzate, which was a leader in the fight for equality a decade ago."
