The president of the Democracy Society, Lorenzo Lemaur Santana, has responded to the resignation of five members of the Board of Directors and the joint statement issued to announce this resignation due to "divergence" with Lemaur.
Lorenzo Lemaur has described as "malicious information" the accusations of his former colleagues, where they spoke of "having kidnapped" the Democracy Society and its accounts. In a manifesto sent to the members, the current president began by saying that "when presenting my candidacy for president, I acquired a commitment with the members for two years and I always fulfill my commitments."
After that, he especially emphasized that this commitment "is coupled with the challenge of revitalizing the Democracy Society, a task in which I am committed and dedicated body and soul with all my enthusiasm."
Lemaur stated in a statement that the activity in the Democracy Society has been growing and that it is "his obligatory intention" to attend to the requests of all its members, as he defended.
Regarding the challenges facing the Democracy Society, the current president highlighted three points:
1. Reform, update and improve the facilities. This will be charged to the subsidy of 50,000 euros granted in the general budgets of the Autonomous Community precisely for that purpose.
2. Plan and project the celebration in 2025, as the ephemeris deserves, of the 175th anniversary of the founding of the Society.
3. An "essential" campaign to attract new young members who guarantee the social and economic survival of the Society.
"I will dedicate all my efforts to all of this during this 2022-2024 term for which I was elected," he concluded without responding to the accusations of alleged obscurantism in the economic accounts of the Democracy Society.
