Lanzarote joins the agreement created by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and several organizations in the Canary Islands, by which the "Casa de África" consortium is constituted. For this, the president of the Island Council has traveled, this Monday, to Gran Canaria to proceed with the signing of this agreement. "Lanzarote has to join this agreement because of the deep and historical ties that unite us to the African continent," said the president of the First Institution.
The general objectives of the "Casa de África" consortium will be to create a meeting forum between public and private institutions, and the civil societies of Spain, Africa and Europe. In addition, this consortium will also increase Spanish and Canarian cooperation in the process of consolidating social and economic structures, and of recovering stability, peace, democracy and respect for human rights that is taking place on the African continent.
Inés Rojas has also stated that with this consortium, the first stone is being laid to give back what Africa has given us so much, "and to cooperate as much as possible in the progress of these communities that have been hit by hunger, war and misery."
"Casa de África" will be based in Gran Canaria and will try to promote Spanish-African relations, as well as serve as a forum for the African Diplomatic Representations based in Spain for the dissemination of the realities of their countries.
