Professor of the University School of Tourism of Lanzarote (EUTL) Pedro Calero and his counterpart from the Department of Economics and Business Management of the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria (ULPGC), Desiderio García, have received the XXIII FITUR-Jorge Vila Fradera Tribune Award for the work 'Analysis and impact of knowledge and innovation in immigrant entrepreneurship in the tourism sector'.

This award, granted by the International Tourism Fair (FITUR) in collaboration with the Spanish Association of Tourism Experts (AECIT), was announced during the celebration of the fair last January and presented on September 30, and recognizes each year the best academic research work related to the tourism sector.

An analysis of immigrant entrepreneurs

The work presented by Calero and García has focused on describing the sources and origin of knowledge of immigrant entrepreneurs in the tourism sector, depending on the needs to start, operate and manage their new tourism companies in the destinations.

It also studies the level of innovation of new immigrant companies and analyzes the impact of this entrepreneurship on the business performance of the tourism sector, as well as the influence of the sources of knowledge of immigrants on the innovation of their new ventures in the tourism sector.

After receiving this award, the study will be edited and disseminated in the academic and training world.
