The PSOE of Arrecife demands the resignation of Yonathan de León after the municipal secretary's report

The socialist spokesperson in the Arrecife City Council, Cristina Duque, points out that "it is the first time that someone has asked for a report from a secretary to tell them that plugging in a brother is wrong."

The Arrecife PSOE demands the immediate resignation of the mayor, Yonathan de León, following the conclusions of the City Council's general secretary's report on the appointment of his brother as an officer of the Local Police. "Out of responsibility and shame," argue the socialists.

The report, which the mayor himself requested, expressly states that "there is a violated duty of abstention", and furthermore, warns that the appointment could be invalid and that the legal consequences must be determined through the ex officio review procedure. "Confirming two points, the first that the mayor acted wrongly with the hiring of his brother, and that he has finally made a fool of himself by requesting a report that everyone, except him, could imagine what it was going to say," states the PSOE.

The secretary also expresses his "deep concern" because the mayor directly intervened in a Human Resources file whose competence was delegated to a councilwoman, without respecting the legally established procedure. "De León's interest is so brutal that he sidelined the councilwoman to personally sign his brother's promotion," they say.

For the PSOE, these actions demand immediate political responsibility. "Giving explanations is not enough: Arrecife needs a mayor who guarantees legality, impartiality, and transparency in municipal management," they point out.

The socialists consider it "especially serious" that the legal report was requested after signing the appointment, as Cristina Duque explains: "It is the first time that someone asks a secretary for a report to tell them that plugging in a brother in a public institution is wrong."

"Yonathan de León must assume his political responsibility and present his resignation. The citizens of Arrecife deserve an Administration that acts with all legal guarantees and that is at the service of the general interest, not to benefit his family. This matter is so ugly that a new festival cannot fix it," concludes Duque.
