"Lanzarote Limpia" collects more than 300 kilos of garbage on the coast of Haría

The association for the conservation and protection of the environment, "Lanzarote Limpia" collected this Sunday, July 26, about 300 kilos of garbage in Caleta del Mojón Blanco, in the northern municipality of Haría.

More than forty volunteers from all the municipalities of the island traveled to the place, in addition to the minor immigrants from the Santa shelter who had already participated in more than one volunteer activity with this association. A group that worked in collaboration with COUP Cleaner Up-Cycling Productions and Fight for Nature Lanzarote (Dignitatis, Unitatem et Pugna).

The more than 300 kilos of garbage removed was classified by glass, plastic and metal, put into sacks and, subsequently, placed in the container provided by the Haría City Council.

According to the association, "among the 300 kilos of garbage were plastic bottles of mineral water from China and Russia, shower gel from Germany, construction pipe, syringes, latex gloves, transfusion bag, cigarette butts, batteries, lighters, metals and pitch, among other waste."

Once the cleaning action was completed, a surprise raffle was held among the volunteers. On this occasion, the prize consisted of a breakfast or snack for two at the Panificadora San Antonio de Tías, as a gift from the same.

Lanzarote Limpia

Lanzarote Limpia is a non-profit organization that has been carrying out environmental conservation activities for more than seven years. Founded by two friends, Tobias Heeb and Steff Cerf, the association set itself the goal of obtaining greater awareness and, consequently, a modification and eradication of harmful habits with our fragile environment. All this, with the collaboration of all the volunteers who participate every Sunday in the cleaning actions.

Aduén Morales, one of the people in charge of the association, comments that, "in the past we carried out one activity a month and now, due to the state in which our environment is and the great will of the volunteers, we are carrying out activities every Sunday."
