The Lanzarote Health Area has confirmed that it is studying a possible multiple case of food poisoning that, for the moment, affects 36 people on the Island, "who attended the same event."

"These people had dinner together last Wednesday after a conference, so the agent causing the clinical pictures presented by the affected people is being studied," they point out from the Ministry of Health. For its part, Coalición Canaria had previously sent a statement making this outbreak public and linking it to the Farmer's Monument, where they claim that a lunch for nursing professionals was held on Thursday the 12th.

"Those affected have presented mild cases of food poisoning, without requiring hospital admission in any case," they specify from Health. However, "given the detection of a high number of cases with very similar symptoms," he explains that analytical tests and surveys are being carried out to incorporate each case into the system of Mandatory Reporting Diseases (EDO), with the collaboration of the Food Safety and Epidemiology and Prevention services of the General Directorate of Public Health.

"Currently, we are awaiting the results of the stool cultures performed on the detected cases, which could indicate the origin of the food poisoning and which will be obtained within a few days," they specify.

In addition, they point out that "instructions were immediately given to the Emergency service of the Doctor José Molina Orosa University Hospital so that during the next few days they carry out this type of survey and analysis on people who may come to this service with symptoms compatible with being part of this outbreak."
