The Guardamar Polimnia of Maritime Rescue has rescued 47 immigrants from a boat that has been located about 27 kilometers northwest of Órzola, Lanzarote, the fifth boat that is being assisted today, to whose coasts 177 immigrants have arrived in the other four, including 20 women and at least one minor.

Sources from Maritime Rescue have informed EFE that the Coordinating Center for Emergencies and Security of the Government of the Canary Islands has given them notice of the boat. Salvamento has transferred them to the Commercial dock where they have docked at 8:45 p.m. The Red Cross has assisted them on land and one of its occupants has been transferred to the Doctor José Molina Orosa hospital.

The first three rescues were carried out this morning by the Guardamar Polimnia about 31 kilometers southeast of Arrecife, which assisted two inflatable boats, and the Salvamar Al Nair, the third, whose occupants were also disembarked at the port of the capital of Lanzarote.

The fourth boat has been spotted by the fishing boat "Isla de Nube", when it was sailing northwest of Lanzarote.

About 50 people of Maghrebi origin could be traveling in the boat and are in apparent good health. Once rescued, they have been transferred to the Commercial dock of Arrecife where they have been attended by the Red Cross.
