El Mojón will have an oven for artisans next year. This was assured by the mayor of Teguise, Oswaldo Betancort, at the inauguration of the ceramics exhibition, which took place last Thursday, June 16 at the Guenia Sociocultural Center in El Mojón.

At the event, which was also attended by the Councilor for Culture of Teguise, Olivia Duque, Oswaldo Betancot assured the ceramics professor Teresa Morales and her students that "next year they will have an oven in the town", which will end having to "move the pieces to La Villa or other places for firing".

Both municipal representatives stated that this fact "is about promoting the crafts of the island", for which "it is essential to create the appropriate endowments".

During the event, Teresa Morales was honored, as every year, by her students. The artisan teaches traditional Canarian ceramics, based on rulos, which they mold by hand with pebbles, mainly reproduce aboriginal vessels and use natural colors. They also make "El Mojón sweethearts", one of the symbols of the island.

The exhibition was open until this Sunday, June 19.
