The workers of the Coca Cola distribution company in Lanzarote have joined the day of strike, which is taking place throughout the Canary Islands and also in towns of the peninsula, to protest against the Employment Regulation File (ERE) that this company has proposed. The employees of the island will hold a concentration this Wednesday and on Thursday they will celebrate another day of strike.

This was explained to La Voz by the representative of the workers for UGT, Juan Jesús Rodríguez, who assured that this Tuesday in the Canary Islands "Coca Cola is not being sold". In addition, he announced that the employees will continue fighting for Coca Cola to stop the ERE, which in Lanzarote could affect 14 people and at the national level 1,250. "A company with so many benefits cannot take this measure," he criticized.

For the moment, the unions and the company have not reached any understanding, so "nothing is known yet". "We don't know what will happen with the workers in Lanzarote either," he said from the doors of the company in Arrecife, where these employees are concentrated.

The workers have decided to support this day of strike to request information from the company and to demand that "no one be fired". Juan Jesús Rodríguez has stated that "they will continue to protest for as long as necessary".
