Covid-19 self-diagnosis tests without a medical prescription are now available in pharmacies on the island, after the Ministerial Council order authorizing their sale was published in the Official State Gazette (BOE) this Wednesday. "We have already sold some", they have pointed out from a pharmacy in Arrecife to La Voz.
Specifically, La Voz has spoken with a pharmacy located in Altavista, where these tests have begun to be sold this Thursday. In the first hours, they say that "there hasn't been much furor" and that in the morning they have only sold three tests, although they hope that sales will increase.
However, they have pointed out that for the moment "there is also a limit per pharmacy". "They are administering us little by little, you can't order any amount". they have specified, pointing out that the laboratory from which they buy the tests only allows them to acquire three per day. "Now we are receiving offers from other laboratories and I suppose that from today everything will move much more", they added. from this establishment.
In this pharmacy the tests can be purchased per unit, for a price of 8.15 euros, or in a pack of five tests, which costs 38.90 euros. "That's what we've got for the moment", they pointed out.
Regarding the operation of these tests, they explain that "it is very simple". "You have the instructions in a manual on how to take the sample, then there is a nasal swab to collect the sample and a small plastic test tube, where you mix the product, the reagent. You put the sample in the tube, and then there is like a dropper, a dispenser to put three drops in the sample device, which is what is going to measure you, like a pregnancy test", they detailed.
