On July 22nd, Colonel José Vicente Teruel Sánchez took office as head of the Lanzarote Military Airfield and Military Air Commander of the Lanzarote Airport, replacing Colonel Nicolás Ramírez Arregui, who has held these positions since the summer of 2019.
The event began at 11:00 a.m. at the Lanzarote Military Airfield facilities with the arrival of the head general of the Canary Islands Air Command, Juan Pablo Sánchez de Lara, who presided over the inauguration.
The ceremony was attended by various civil and military authorities of the Archipelago, among which are the second vice president of the Island Council of Lanzarote Marcos Bergaz, mayor of Arrecife Astrid Pérez, second head general of the Canary Islands Air Command Fernando Torres, Defense Delegate in the Canary Islands Luis Gómez-Guillamón and 3rd deputy mayor of San Bartolomé Raúl de León.
During his speech, Colonel Teruel declared his commitment to continue and strengthen the bonds between the Air Force and the people of Lanzarote, as well as close collaboration with the island's institutions.
Colonel José Vicente Teruel is a native of Cartagena, is married and has two children, belongs to the 41st promotion of the General Air Academy. He is a Tactical Air Transport pilot and Staff Officer.
He has participated in the following missions:
Stabilisation Force (SFOR) in Sarajevo, Mostar, Medjugorge and Trebinje in the former Yugoslavia.
International Security Assistance Force (ISAF), in Herat, Afghanistan. • Operation support to Mali in Dakar, Senegal.
He is a Professor of Tactical Military Air Transport Piloting and Advanced Air Controller.
He has been assigned, among others, to the MATACAN School Group, the Cuatro Vientos Cartographic Center, the General Air Command Headquarters, the Air Operations Command of the General Staff and the Logistics Support Command.
