Canary Islands Car, CICAR, presented the Canary Islands Audio Guide app at the International Tourism Fair of Madrid, FITUR. From now on, users of their rental cars will be able to download the application on their mobile devices when traveling through any island of the Archipelago.
The presentation was given by the CEO of CICAR, Mamerto Cabrera, before the President of the Government of the Canary Islands, Ángel Víctor Torres, who was accompanied by the Minister of Tourism of the Canary Islands Executive, Yaiza Castilla, and the President of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, María Dolores Corujo. The presidents of the remaining island councils were also present.
Until now, the car rental company had been offering its customers a free audio guide service in several languages incorporated into the vehicle, allowing them to listen to the most outstanding aspects of each of the islands of the Archipelago while driving.
With this innovation, the user will download the Canary Islands Audio Guide app on their mobile and will be able to listen to it on the vehicle's audio equipment. As the user travels through an island, they can choose between selecting the track they want to listen to, in accordance with the landscape or the place in front of them, or the track will automatically jump through GPS positioning.
The presentation of the Audio Guide app took place in the company's exhibition space, which, as on previous occasions, is located next to the Canary Islands pavilion. At the end of 2019, CICAR incorporated the first electric vehicles into its rental car fleet, and, since then, the intention has been and is to gradually incorporate new units until completing the ecological transition and having a fleet 100% powered by renewable energies.
The 2021 edition of FITUR will last until this Sunday, and it is the first time that it has been held outside of its usual dates, in the month of January, due to the coronavirus pandemic. However, the leading company in the Islands in the car rental sector expresses its full confidence in the prompt recovery of tourism, as predicted by the authorities and experts as a result of the intense vaccination campaigns that are being carried out both on the islands themselves and in the issuing countries.
