The educational community of CEIP Playa Honda has donated almost 2,000 euros this Monday to the Disgrup foundation, an association whose objective is to improve and facilitate the daily life of people with disabilities, and to the Lanzarote animal and plant protection association (SARA). In the act, which was attended by the teaching staff and members of the CEIP Playa Honda community, the teacher, Soraya Hernández, handed over the checks with 75% of the money raised to the representative of Disgrup, Guillermo Egido, and the remaining 25% to the representative of the animal and plant protection association SARA, Marga Sánchez.
Guillermo Egido thanked the educational community for the donation corresponding to the collection in the Solidarity Race that they celebrated at the educational center at the end of January. The representative of Disgrup stressed that his group "appreciates" all these "gestures", because sometimes they are always left "last" when it comes to receiving money. Egido recalled that Disgrup is a foundation that represents more than 4.5 million disabled people in Spain. "This year 2017 we will be 5.5 million, because Alzheimer's patients will be added," he announced.
For her part, the representative of SARA thanked on behalf of her group and stressed the importance of "instilling" in students respect for animals and plants. "Boys and girls are our future," she said.
To finalize the delivery ceremony, members of the Playa Honda educational community highlighted the relevant role that the representative of Disgrup has played in "bringing" the lives of people with disabilities closer to boys and girls. In fact, Guillermo Egido will give talks this week about the topic to the students of the fifth and sixth grades of the educational center.
