The long-awaited figure of 70% of the target population vaccinated, which is what the Ministry of Health establishes as the objective for group immunization, has been reached in the archipelago. This Wednesday, August 18, it has been possible to immunize 1,374,040 people with the complete vaccination schedule, which represents 70.08% of those over 12 years of age.

It should be remembered that Lanzarote reached that percentage on August 8, being the third island to achieve it, after El Hierro and La Palma. In addition, that percentage has been increasing, reaching 73.4% on Tuesday.

In addition, in the Canary Islands there are 1,591,323 people vaccinated with at least one dose, so the percentage of vaccination of the target population over 12 years of age in the Archipelago with half of the schedule is 81.16%.

The vaccination points activated on all the islands continue with their daily activity, both with prior appointment following the established agendas and with the vaccination system without appointment, as it was organized last Saturday at the Deiland Shopping Center. Thus, progress continues in the immunization process to reach the maximum possible number of people protected against the coronavirus.

The Ministry of Health appreciates, once again, "the work and dedication of all the professionals involved in the vaccination campaign". In addition, it highlights "the involvement of the Canary Islands citizens, who have responded in an exemplary manner to the call for vaccination, the best tool to be protected against serious illness."
