The Arrecife City Council has decided to suspend, until further notice, the Carnival events and all outdoor and aquatic activities due to adverse weather conditions, following the recommendations of the General Directorate of Security and Emergencies of the Government of the Canary Islands.

The Consistory reminds that the island is on alert for wind and coastal phenomena from Sunday until this Tuesday, with a forecast of wind gusts of more than 70 kilometers per hour, accompanied by rain and a forecast of isolated storms during the night.

"This decision is made taking into account the information provided by the State Meteorological Agency and other available sources, and in application of the Specific Emergency Plan of the Canary Islands due to Risks of Adverse Meteorological Phenomena," they point out from the City Council, which points out that the Lanzarote Security and Emergency Consortium has also recommended adopting these measures.

"Likewise, it is recommended that, in view of the possible consequences that the storm may have, people remain in their homes and take special precaution and consideration of the recommendations issued by the Government of the Canary Islands," they add from the Consistory.

In the capital, firefighters had to intervene this Monday due to the detachment of some plates from the facade of a building on Luis Morote street, which have fallen on a tree.
