Photos: Sergio Betancort.- The Arrecife City Council has presented the eight candidates for Queen of the 2006 Carnival, who will compete in the election to be held, together with the Grand Artistic Gala, next Saturday, February 25 at the Fairgrounds. An event that will feature the performance of the Murga winners of this year's edition and the artist David Civera.
In addition, on Thursday, February 23, the Grand Election of the Queen of the Third Age will take place, with the performance of the Murga "Friends of the 3rd Age of Altavista", while on Sunday, February 26, it will be the turn of the Children's Party and the Election of the Children's Queen.
With respect to the first modality, that of the Queen of the 2006 Carnival, the first of the candidates is Melisa Álvarez Perera, 21 years old, who will represent the fantasy "Destination Elephant Island", designed by Oswaldo Machín, sponsored by Covertura.
For her part, Patricia Baranbio Navarro, 21 years old, will wear the fantasy "Lady Iceberg", from the Antonio Zamora Design Workshop, under the financing of Grúas Lanzarote Asistencia.
The youngest candidate is Marta Melián Rabayna, 16 years old, who will represent the fantasy "Goddess of Macaronesia", by Jaime Romero, and which will be sponsored by Inelcom.
The fourth aspirant to the title of Queen of the Carnival is Yenifer Acosta Perdoma, 19 years old, with the fantasy "Message of Peace", also by Jaime Romero, and represented in the Climafrical firm.
The young Elisabeth Merino Betancort, 30 years old, will wear the fantasy "Highway to Hell", by Oswaldo Machín, which is supported by the Tsunami Pub.
The sixth candidate, Verónica Perdomo Camacho, 18 years old, will wear the fantasy "Moon eclipse in Puerto Naos", by the designer Jaime Romero, and sponsored by the firm Urbaser.
For her part, Yanire Escurra Guillén, 22 years old, will show in the gala the fantasy "Bewitchment of Shanghai", by the designer René Modistos, represented by the company Horinsa.
The last of the candidates for the title of Queen of the 2006 Carnival is called Patricia Montalbán Luque, is 26 years old and will wear the fantasy "Just me", by Oswaldo Machín, under the support of the firm Leyce.
