Approximately 1,350 students from Tinajo are participating this year in a new edition of the project "Get to know your municipality", an initiative carried out by the Department of Sports, with the aim of "traveling, together with the students, the different paths of the municipality to raise awareness about its importance", reports the City Council.

"We want schoolchildren to be able to know all the beauty of the municipality," they clarify. "It is very important to make the youngest aware of the importance of caring for and pampering each of our spaces." In addition, "future generations are the ones who must continue to protect our natural heritage, which is one of Lanzarote's great attractions," they emphasize from the town hall.

In 2023, in this project, "a total of five schools are participating, including the IES Tinajo," they announce. Also part of the experience are: the CEIP Virgen de Los Volcanes; Guiguan; El Cuchillo and the CEIP Lidia. 70% of the territory of Tinajo has some category of protection and "through outings to the paths and routes of the municipality, students will learn about the history, culture, flora, fauna and geology of the municipality, they point out.

Also "the characteristics of the protected natural spaces" and, above all, "to maintain and protect the landscape", they remark.

"It is very positive that we are adding more students to this project that promotes physical activity, which is essential for the growth of children, and allows them to learn about the history of Tinajo through the trails," they point out from the Council.
