Canal Gestión has reported a failure in the high-voltage line of the electricity supply company, Endesa, which has caused the temporary stoppage of the Janubio Seawater Desalination Plant (EDAM), as its electricity supply has been affected.
As a result, the production of drinking water has been interrupted in this facility, which is affecting the supply in the areas surrounding the Janubio EDAM, such as El Golfo, Playa Blanca, Yaiza, Las Breñas and Uga.
So far, Canal Gestión explains that no town has been affected, but it is not ruled out that they may suffer problems with the supply due to this failure, although "everything depends on the pace of resolution of the failure by Endesa."
On the Canal Gestión website itself, it is explained that, as soon as the failure is resolved by the energy company and the electricity supply is restored, the plant will be able to reactivate and progressively recover production and water supply.
At this time, the estimated time for resolving the incident is still unknown.
