Under the title "The Adventures of Jules Verne", Arenas Internacional School celebrates, between April 6 and 12, a new edition of its Olympics, inspired this time by the fantasies described by this magnificent storyteller and father of science fiction, whose literary works take us into fantastic worlds full of illusion.

A journey of adventures that the students of Arenas Internacional School, from Infantil to Bachillerato, together with a group of parents and former students, has staged with great success at the inauguration of the twentieth edition held this Saturday, April 6, and which was once again attended by the entire educational community.

To this end, the students eager for knowledge have turned the school's sports facilities into a stage in which, through dramatizations, gymnastics and dances, they have reflected Verne's fantastic world. Flying machines, submarines, overpopulated cities..., formed part of the different scenes represented with a fantastic wardrobe elaborated by a group of parents of the School under the tutelage of the designer Manuel Camejo.

The opening was attended by the Mayoress of the Town Hall of Teguise, Olivia Duque, accompanied by the General Director of Arenas, Arenas Atlántico and Arenas Internacional Schools, Alberto Rodríguez, and other directors and political and academic authorities. Previously, at 09.30 hours, and from "Las Caletas" in Costa Teguise, the Olympic torch route started and arrived at Arenas Internacional School in relays carried out by the students of the 2nd year of Compulsory Secondary Education (ESO).

The presentation of the event will be in charge of the director of Arenas Internacional School, Delfina Rodríguez, who announced her retirement at the end of the current academic year, which provoked the applause of all those present; and José Paz, who gave way to the Inaugural Proclamation offered by the mother of students Beatriz Reyes. A storyteller through whom she told the story of the School, its advances, its wonders and her experience with the School.

Subsequently, the opening gala took place where you could enjoy a great show in which you could travel through the adventures narrated in works such as "From the Earth to the Moon", "Around the World in 80 Days", "Journey to the Center of the Earth" or "20,000 Leagues Under the Sea", among others.

At the end of the performance, the students carrying the Olympic Torch entered, and the subsequent lighting of the cauldron, whose honor this year falls on the 2nd year ESO student, Nicole Márquez Ramos.

The opening ended with the participation of the guests in the final dance, thus joining the illusion and joy of the students and all those who have made this show possible. Now there is a week full of Olympic activities.
