Citizen Abel Barreto González, who had already denounced to La Voz the lack of regulatory fencing of several works being carried out in the capital, sent a letter to the Provincial Labor and Social Security Inspectorate stating that a building with a basement and several floors is being erected on Huelva Street, corner of Chafariz Street in Arrecife, without observing, according to the applicable legislation, any type of informative sign of the building permit, its date of concession, planned execution period, construction company, name of the architect and other information.
Barreto González asserts that the protective fence that separates the work is poorly installed because it invades the sidewalk in some areas and is also not aligned. He also warns that in other areas there is not even a fence, but the most curious thing is that said metallic protection is lying inside the work itself, leaving it separated only by a mesh that is insufficient to guarantee the safety of workers and passers-by. The neighbor even specifies that at an entrance to the work with access to Jaén Street, the lack of alignment of the mesh is verified, even invading part of the road.
Maneuvers in the middle of the street
The site where material unloading maneuvers can supposedly be carried out without hindering coexistence with other neighbors is not having that utility, while the unloading is carried out in the middle of Huelva Street, closing it to traffic, but without any prior notice.
Jaén Street is entered by going up Chafaríz Street to the left, being one-way, so you can only exit back to Chafaríz via a parallel street: Huelva Street, where the aforementioned work is being carried out. According to Barreto González, on numerous occasions it is unjustifiably closed by a truck that is parked right at the exit of said street, which is accessed in the opposite direction by Chafaríz Street, so drivers who transit through there have to wait for the truck to finish unloading or reverse until the beginning of Huelva Street.
Request for paralysis
The letter emphasizes that the Arrecife City Council "shines" due to its absence when it comes to enforcing the regulations. For this reason, the neighbor asks the capital Consistory to accept the complaint and, after the appropriate procedures, verify the existence of a building permit for the site, the necessary stakeout reports to start the works, the adoption of the security measures that the promoting entity must impose, the placement of the signs of the construction company and others. Likewise, it demands that it be investigated whether the work meets all the requirements for the correct execution of its execution and, if not, order its paralysis until it obtains said permits.
The complainant and other neighbors who support him make it clear to the competent authority that they have nothing against the owner or promoter of the aforementioned work, because they assert that they do not even know him, but that the complaint is due to the breach of the measures that any citizen is obliged to carry out when they are going to carry out any work, no matter how small.
