Maritime Rescue has come this Sunday to the rescue of a boat with 33 Maghreb people on board, including a woman with her baby, which has been spotted by a Naviera Armas ferry about 45 miles from Lanzarote, as reported to Efe sources from the state company.
Thus, at about 14:45, the Volcán de Tinamar ferry has warned Salvamento after the alert of several passengers, who have reported having spotted from the ship a boat that was making distress signals.
At that time, the ferry has retreated to the position indicated by the passengers and has confirmed that it was a boat.
Maritime Rescue has requested the ferry to escort the boat until the arrival of the Salvamar Al Nair, which finally rescued the members around 17:45 and directed them to the port of Arrecife.
They have been transferred to the Commercial dock where they have been attended by the Red Cross. Four people have had to be evacuated to Molina Orosa for different pathologies.
