Two tourists record themselves while sticking half their body out of the car. In some images that La Voz has been able to access and that were recorded this past Sunday, April 20, you can see how two travelers put their body out of the window of their rental car while capturing the scene with a device connected to a selfie stick. The events took place on the main road of the north, near the town of Arrieta, in the municipality of Haría.
It is not the first time that this type of behavior has occurred on the island. The Traffic detachment of the Civil Guard already investigated in September of last year the driver of a vehicle that was circulating with three young people with half their body out of the car in a video that went viral on social networks and that was later published by this editorial team.
The Benemérita classified those events as an alleged crime of reckless driving and informed its driver, a 26-year-old young man, that he would be investigated as the alleged perpetrator. Meanwhile, the young women who committed the infraction were attributed the commission of three administrative infractions to the road safety regulations, for not using the seat belt.
That same month, another tourist was recorded with half his body out of the vehicle window.
Applicable regulations
According to the provisions of the current Penal Code, the crime of driving with manifest recklessness is punishable by imprisonment of six months to two years and deprivation of the right to drive motor vehicles and mopeds for a period of more than one and up to six years.
Likewise, the General Traffic Regulations include as administrative infractions the failure of the occupant of the vehicle to use, or not to do so properly, the correctly fastened seat belt, punishable by an economic sanction of 200 euros and the withdrawal of 4 points.
The Benemérita recalls that "citizen collaboration, in cases such as the one at hand, is facilitating the task of the Traffic Group as guarantors of road safety."
