The renowned French brand Christian Dior has chosen "the indomitable charm" of Lanzarote to launch a cactus cultivation project and create with them its new range of facial care treatment for men.

The fashion house born in Granville, in the French region of Normandy, has launched a new cosmetic line under the name Sauvage Mencare.

"In the midst of black landscapes and volcanic terrain, there is a new cactus cultivation project, a testament to Dior's commitment to innovation and heritage," the brand states on Instagram.

These facial care products "obtain their active strength in the heart of the cactus, a plant with exceptional power, among the few that survive in the desert," Dior highlights in a publication on its website. Dior announces that this new range has 90% natural ingredients, including the Lanzarote prickly pear. From this plant they obtain an "aqueous extract", which is mixed with natural black carbon extract.

In the images you can see the arid and volcanic landscapes of Lanzarote, the rofe, the prickly pears and how they are treated to then create the product.

In the images, Isidro Pérez, a Lanzarote farmer expert in cactus care and collaborator with the French company, says: "Lanzarote is a unique island on the planet. The landscape that predominates the most is the volcanic one, it is a place that has a lot of strength and that traps many people".

While adding, "for me the cactus is a very generous plant, with little care it is able to survive and even so it has the ability to retain water. It is known as the plant of life".

Among the parts of cactus care, Pérez explains that they use "a natural healing agent, which is ash" and that they obtain it "using wood from the area." In addition, he explains that "regenerative agriculture is recovering what was done in the past". To conclude, he indicates that "at night it is more contemplative because when the Moon is full it has more energy and makes it spread throughout the plant. The cactus in the end is a magical plant".
