Under the slogan 'Uniting voices, integrating care', the nurses of the Lanzarote Health Area, attached to the Ministry of Health of the Government of the Canary Islands, held a conference this Thursday at the Insular Hospital, on the occasion of the International Nurses Day, which is commemorated every May 12, with the participation of ten patient associations on the island.
The conference, held in the Doctor Domingo Guzmán Classroom of the center, fostered the meeting of health professionals and associations with the aim of learning about and sharing the needs and concerns of those receiving healthcare. They also served to promote cooperation and recognize the importance of mutual collaboration in the promotion of health, the well-being of the community and, above all, the integration of care.
The Director of Nursing of the Doctor José Molina Orosa University Hospital, Teresa Salegre, stressed that "the joint work of associations and nursing allows us to identify and address, adequately, the physical, emotional and social needs of patients, achieving more satisfactory care."
For her part, the Director of Nursing of the Insular Hospital of Lanzarote, María Montilla, pointed out that these conferences "give visibility to the work of nurses and highlight the multifaceted task of the professionals who, in addition to guaranteeing care, provide security and protection, show closeness, support, dedication and empathy.
Contents of the conference
Throughout the morning, the presentations of the representatives of the associations who shared their experience and knowledge took place, such as the El Cribo Mental Health Association, the SentirTEA Association of families and patients with Autism Spectrum Disorder, Chrysallis Association of Trans Childhood and Youth Families, Alcoholics Anonymous and Acompañar, who highlighted the role played by health personnel in the accompaniment, which serves as a bridge of union with patients, guaranteeing the support of the association beyond admission.
The Round Table of this meeting also included the Association of Oncohematological Families of Lanzarote AFOL, Afa Association of Relatives of Alzheimer's and other Dementias, Pequeño Valiente, Mararía and the Lanzarote Association for Assistance in Multiple Sclerosis, Alanem.
The participating groups considered the joint work essential to guarantee comprehensive care focused on the needs of each person and positively valued the initiative, understanding, in addition, that this type of meeting strengthens the relationship between all agents. The conferences concluded with the commitment to continue collaborating and creating
alliances for the benefit of the health and well-being of the society of Lanzarote.
