The autopsy performed on the body of Yuliza Pérez, the young woman found this Tuesday, has confirmed that the cause of death was asphyxiation, while ruling out that there was a sexual assault, according to sources close to the case informed ACN Press.

It should be remembered that already during the first exploration of the corpse, no signs of physical or sexual violence had been observed beyond having been found with her hands tied, which made asphyxiation considered as the first hypothesis. However, the same sources indicate that other causes are not ruled out.

The investigation

Regarding the investigation, in statements made to Radio Lanzarote, Commissioner José Antonio García Camacho has stated that they are studying the images from the cameras of the establishments on the route that the young woman was supposed to take last Thursday when she disappeared, as well as investigating if someone saw her. So far they have not had any results. The only data collected is that she was last seen at about 10:20 in a store where she went to buy sweets.

Likewise, he pointed out that "from the first moment the investigation focuses on the culprit being someone from the environment", since the young woman had only been in Lanzarote for a few months and according to what Yuliza's parents and cousins told him, "she only went out to work, she was at home, she had no friends and she had no relationship with anyone." He also pointed out that once the body has appeared, it may be that "the circumstances are expanded".

However, he indicated that so far "the few things that exist cannot be used as evidence". Regarding the accusations by Yuliza's family and acquaintances against her mother's partner, he indicated that "so far there is no evidence against him, so we cannot arrest him." Last Tuesday afternoon he was at the police station giving a statement for the second time and "for his safety" he was kept there, since the Police had to intervene after 13:00 last Tuesday to prevent his lynching.

The tracking

García Camacho pointed out that last Monday the National Police "passed in a helicopter over the Argana Alta landfill" and that "as she was buried, she was not seen." Thus, the body was found last Tuesday when a neighbor's dog that was walking in the area dug in the place where the corpse was.

Identification

ACN publishes that during the afternoon of last Tuesday, no one from the family came to recognize the body found this Tuesday, so according to the National Police in Lanzarote, the corpse had to be identified through fingerprints.
