Civil Protection personnel in the Yaiza City Council have participated in two services this past weekend. The rapid action of this body prevented the flooding of several homes in a residential area in Montaña Roja, Playa Blanca.
According to information from the Yaiza City Council, the device was activated after 08:45 on Sunday.
The rupture of a pipe that supplies drinking water to these residential areas flooded the main access road to the homes. Several teams and a motor pump went to the site and pumped out the water to prevent it from seeping into the homes in the Alegranza urbanization, in Playa Blanca.
Rescue
On the other hand, the Yaiza Civil Protection teams also participated in the rescue of a driver who was trapped inside his vehicle when he suffered a spectacular traffic accident.
In the early hours of last Sunday, the volunteer personnel of Yaiza Civil Protection were alerted to, together with other bodies, evacuate a Moroccan citizen of about 30 years of age who was trapped inside a vehicle at the roundabout at the exit of the urban center of Yaiza, in the direction of Playa Blanca.
In this service, in addition to Civil Protection, the agents of the Southern Local Police, the Civil Guard, Firefighters of the Island and an ambulance of 112 participated, which transferred the injured to the hospital center of the capital of Lanzarote with signs of trauma.
