Agents of the National Police Corps attached to the Superior Headquarters of Police of the Canary Islands, have proceeded, in recent dates, to the arrest of two individuals of Chinese nationality as alleged perpetrators of a crime against industrial property in the capital of Gran Canaria.
The investigations were motivated by the complaint filed by a representative of the well-known brand of leather goods "Louis Vuitton" who stated that he had observed the exhibition of the same in a bazaar located in a central commercial street of this city and that they offered him no doubt about their falsification or imitation.
The Patrimonial Crimes Group integrated in the Specialized and Violent Crime Unit (U.D.E.V.) of the Provincial Brigade of Judicial Police of Las Palmas initiated the investigations aimed at clarifying the reported facts, managing to verify that this illegal practice was indeed being carried out.
According to a police statement, the agents were able to verify that the owners of the premises, of Chinese nationality, owned a warehouse in a street in the surrounding area where they could house more counterfeit merchandise, a fact contrasted with the information obtained from the Maspalomas Police Station, which in turn was investigating the origin of the wholesale articles destined to supply the street markets in that area.
At the end of last month, agents assigned to the aforementioned Group, provided with the pertinent warrant and accompanied by an expert from the Ministry of Culture, proceeded to carry out a search in the aforementioned establishment, as well as in the warehouse, which resulted in the seizure of a total of 1,732 illegal articles, of which 938 were bags, caps and 540 belts of the most famous brands, calculating their normal value in the market at more than 16,000 euros.
The detainees, Jianfang Z., 35 years old, and Wanchong H., 45, both of Chinese nationality and without previous records, together with the proceedings carried out, were placed at the disposal of the Judicial Authority.
