EFE - A 20-year-old Moroccan man tried to take the weapon from one of the police officers who arrested him in the early hours of last Wednesday outside a nightclub in Lanzarote after he attacked a man who was in the place.
The detainee, whose address is not registered on the Island, has been identified as Azil E.H., reported yesterday the Local Police of the municipality of Tías, in the south of the island.
The events occurred at approximately 04:30 hours last Tuesday outside a nightclub, a place through which a Local Police unit was passing.
The agents witnessed how the later detainee assaulted, "for no apparent reason, a passerby".
When going to arrest the young Moroccan man and asking him to identify himself, he "offered great resistance and tried in the struggle to snatch the weapon from one of the agents".
After being finally arrested, the appropriate procedures were instructed for his being placed at the disposal of the judicial authority, the sources added.
