The magistrate of the Court of First Instance and Instruction Number 4 of Arrecife has sent to provisional prison, without the possibility of bail, the six British soldiers arrested for the brutal fight that took place last weekend in the La Vaca Loca restaurant in Costa Teguise.
After taking a statement from the last detainee, and after having already extended the detention of the first five arrested, who had already been brought to justice the day before, the magistrate adopted this decision on the afternoon of this Tuesday, with which all have been transferred to the Tahiche Penitentiary Center.
Thus, they will remain in prison until the trial is held or until a new order from the magistrate investigating the case.
Charges
The detainees are Christopher Faulkner, Craig Alec Jones, Thomas F. Lawrence, Steven Parry, Carl Mario Patrick Tyers and Darren Meek. The first four are charged with a crime of damage and another of injury, while the last two also face an accusation of a crime of assault on an agent of authority, and would be the alleged perpetrators of the aggression against the civil guards who came to arrest them after the brawl.
The incident occurred on Saturday, when two soldiers entered the premises and tried to take a bottle of wine. The owner, Hernán Martín, reprimanded them for their attitude and asked them to leave the establishment. According to eyewitnesses, another six soldiers waiting outside entered the premises, where they began to attack workers and customers.
