The driver of the van that crashed into a house in Tinajo on Monday night is Ayoze Callero, councilor of Somos Lanzarote in the Teguise City Council. As confirmed to La Voz by the Local Police of this municipality, the councilor tested positive in the alcohol test that was performed after the accident.

The Local Police have not yet provided more details of what happened, stating that they are still preparing the report and will inform throughout this Tuesday. They have indicated, however, that Callero must respond to that positive alcohol test before the Court and that he has already been summoned for a fast trial. As indicated to La Voz, the councilor was not arrested, only "detained." Callero's party, Somos Lanzarote, has not wanted to comment for now.

The event took place this Monday around 10:30 p.m. Callero was driving a van that ended up impacting the facade of a house on Tinguatón street and also with a vehicle that was parked and suffered various damages. Although he did not require medical assistance, as confirmed by 112, the intervention of firefighters was necessary to remove the vehicle's battery and clean the street to restore traffic.
